Kettle Joe's PSR played at the Gathering of the Vibes (KJPSR's first Vibes, but the Tricksters have played every year at the Vibes since the very beginning of the fest when it was Deadhead Heaven). The days before the Vibes, the band played a show at the Stephen Talkhouse and the Sellersville Theater 1894. David Gans, friend, singer/songwriter, guitarist and host of the Grateful Dead Hour, opened for KJPSR at the Talkhouse and Sellersville and there was a bunch of mutual sitting in. Members of KJPSR also sat in with the New Riders at the Vibes. It was of the most awesome weekends of the entire summer, and here are photos taken at the three shows. Special thanks to our buddy, J Bloomrosen, for about two dozen of these pix. Wednesday 16 August 2006: August 19, 2006. Joining us were Mickey Hart, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay, David Nelson, Rob Barraco, Michael Falzarano, Tom Constanten, Wendy Lanter and David MacKay. It was a magical evening that featured a reception and concert. Here are some photos from the rehearsal of the day before, the reception, and concert. Friday afternoon, the Zens opened up the festival with Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay sitting in for a few numbers. Saturday, Jeff, Klyph, and Tom, along with Donna Jean, sat in with David Gans for a few beautiful tunes, and Saturday night, the Zens took part in the Jerry Garcia/GD Tribute, which was spectacular! The five hour jam, directed by Jeff, featured Dark Star Orchestra as the back-up band, and such luminaries as Donna Jean, Peter Rowan, David Nelson, Tom Constanten, Melvin Seals, Martin Fierro, and many more. The OCF defies description, but is really like walking into an alternate reality--and an excellent one at that. Hopefully, the photos will convey some of the magic that was with us all that weekend as the Tricksters played the Main Stage on Saturday, where they headlined, and the Hoarse Chorale on Sunday. They had the added privilege of having Greg Anton of the Heart of Gold Band and Zero, sitting in with them on both these OCF sets, and together with ZT drummer Joe, they made a hell of a drumming duo! <a href="http://www.zentricksters.com/home.html">Back to the Zen Tricksters site</a>.
